American Eagle's Aerie's " Real Beauty" Campaign.

American Eagle Aerie Real Beauty Campaign
American Eagle‘s Aerie ads for Spring 2014 are the latest to champion natural beauty. The John Urbano-lensed campaign featured unretouched models posing in lingerie. You’re able to see all the folds, creases, stretch marks, scars, and tattoos of the models, like you would in any other picture. “The girl in this photo has not been retouched,” the ads read. ”The real you is sexy. #aerieReal.”  Aerie’s chief merchandising officer Jennifer Foyle says the point of the campaign is to show women they’re gorgeous just how they naturally are: “The purpose of aerie Real is to communicate there is no need to retouch beauty, and to give young women of all shapes and sizes the chance to discover amazing styles that work best for them. We want to help empower young women to be confident in themselves and their bodies.” It’s a great idea, but still kind of unfortunate that retouching has gotten so out of hand, it’s a big deal when a retailer doesn’t airbrush their ads into oblivion.
