Fashion Scoop: Dwyane Wade Designs “Dexter” Inspired Sneaker, A Hermes Birkin Sells at Auction For $185K, and Wearable Tech Is Popular Amongst 16-to-24-Year-Olds.

• In addition to the watch he has in collaboration with Hublot, Dwayne Wade has a sneaker he designed for Li Ning. The sneaker features splattered red “blood” coming up the shoe, in line with the violent “Dexter” inspirations. There’s no word on whether this style will go on sale. (WWD)


• It’s not The September Issue, but British Vogue has released a short film of their London Fashion Week experience this season. Of the handful of nuggets in the film, the editors confess that there’s actually not really much money in terms of advertising from London brands. For them, fashion week is more about just showing support for British designers. (Vogue UK)

• With the fashion show for the label coming up this week, an Hermes Birkin bag just sold on auction for $185,000. The price tag comes with 212 diamonds and is done in crocodile skin. While it’s not the most expensive bag to be sold at auction — another Birkin was sold for $203,150 — it is the second-most. Talk about splurge! (StyleBlazer)

• Best Buy has announced a line of accessories featuring designs from Isaac Mizrahi, Nanette Lepore, and Anna Sui. In an effort to address more female customers(and steal some sales back from Amazon no doubt) the store has rolled out the collections today that feature smartphone, tablet, and laptop cases. If sales do well, the retailer could go on to bring in more designers. (WWD)

• While some say that wearable technology is niche, new studies show that there is a large market for it. 71% of 16 to 24 year olds apparently want “wearable technology,” which to them is a smart watch, smart wristband, or Google Glasses. And while some have decidedly pushed back from constantly using technology, it looks like there is basis for brands that are continuously pushing into the wearable space. (Forbes)
