Diane von Furstenberg Fall 2015.


Hailed as the doyenne of what has now become the iconic wrap dress, Diane von Furstenberg’s collection for Fall 2015 undoubtedly included a few. Kendall Jenner opened the show in a white one with a black sash. And while it may have not presented itself to be the most noteworthy piece of the bunch, it was the most necessary: a reminder to onlookers of the staple that created an empire.  Nevertheless, there was nothing commonplace about the collection, evidenced by the first few black and white looks von Furstenberg sent down the catwalk.  A colorblock black and white frock and printed dresses in the same hues showcased the air of modern sophistication that has become so synonymous with the brand.

Von Furstenberg has always been a designer who relishes in celebrating femininity.  It goes without saying that a few dainty options were on the menu for this season.  Dresses were speckled with dots of color, almost exuding a confectionery effect.

This season was also an experimental one for von Furstenberg as she played with pattern mixing and skimmed the surface of masculine tailoring. Florals and pinstripes on trousers and dresses showcased some delightful juxtaposition.

The collection teemed with scores of polka dots and lace in shades of striking reds and bold blues for any DvF woman looking to command attention in any room. From pantsuits to sultry, come hither dresses, seduction was well at play here.

Black is the new black, and von Furstenberg executed that notion perfectly.  Though a few pieces seemed to evoke somewhat of a budoirish allure, the sexiness is still subtle. A lace inset here, décolletage there and smoldering stares elevated the concept that showing the right amount of skin in the right places can leave an unforgettable first impression.

There weren’t tons of outwear options, but the ones presented certainly didn’t fail to disappoint. Trenches and fur coats in resplendent shades are going to fly off the shelves, most notably a black sweater dress peppered with an array of colors.

All in all, this season is going to be a successful one for the DvF brand. Despite the handbag deficit, the clothing more than compensates. Von Furstenberg has an obvious ability to cater to the sartorial needs of every woman, and everyone the likes of Ariana Grande and Ashley Madekwe to  First Lady Michelle Obama would clamor to get their hands on a few pieces. Cohesive, marketable, and altogether enticing, the intent was clear.  Understated seduction can never go out of style.
