How-To: Get Gigi Hadid's Killer Gold Eye in 3 Low-Key Ways

Even if you're an everyday makeup kind of girl, you can probably count the number of times you've dared to wear gold eye shadow on one hand.
A metallic eye doesn't necessarily scream subtle, so it makes perfect sense that, in the past, you've reserved the glitzy trend for trips to Vegas or Halloween costume parties. However, according to celeb makeup artist Suzie Kim, a gold eye can actually work any hour, any time—just take a look at Gigi Hadid.
"Gigi's gold eye is really fresh—it's just one color and no eyeliner, a surprisingly low-maintenance option for summer," Suzie spilled.
For three minimal-effort ways to wear gold eye shadow, read on.

For a Natural Look: For a subtle, natural, approach to the gold eye, Suzie used two hues: gold and copper, both from the Pacifica Solar Complete Mineral Palette. "Simply swipe the entire lid with the gold shade and blend the copper just at the crease to make it pop," she advised. For the rest of the look, a good bronzer, like Kevin Aucoin The Celestial Bronzing Veil in Tropical Days, and a coral lip, like Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint in Cray-Cray, plays up the summer feel without feeling heavy. To keep it flirty, pack on a heavy hand of mascara, like Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, and the entire low-maintenance look is done in five minutes flat.

Wet Your Shadow to Bump Color: Is the first look too low key for you? For a more dramatic gold, bump up the color simply by wetting your shadow. "When you are working with mineral powders, wetting the shadow before applying it will bump up the intensity, times three," revealed the pro. For this look, though, feel free to nix the second copper color if you like—the bright pigment can hold its own. To play up the hue, drag the shade into the inner and outer corners of the eyes. Keep lashes extra full and dust face with a highlighter, like Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder, for a heavenly, uniform glow.

Pack on Some Glitter to Bring Drama: This is where your Vegas glitter comes in—but done Suzie's way, you won't have to keep this restricted to the Strip (as a matter of fact, we're pretty set on this look for Fourth of July festivities). To do it yourself, swipe on your gold shadow as usual to create a even base color. Next, grab a latex-based eyelash glue, like Duo Brush-On Adhesive, and smear it over the top of the lid that you just shaded. Hold a paper towel under your eye to prevent a mess, and then pack on the gold glitter, like Make Up For Ever Glitters. "Just make sure that the glitter isn't craft glitter. Makeup glitter has soft, sanded edges that won't cut your eye area—so it's worth the price tag," she shared.
