The iconic “Cosby Show” actress Phylicia Rashad is following in Taye Diggs‘ footsteps by signing on to guest star in the third season of “Empire.”
According to Shadow and Act,
Rashad will play Diana Dubois, the wealthy “matriarch of one of New
York’s oldest and most prominent Africa American families.” As the
mother of ambitious city councilman Angelo Dubois (Diggs), Diana is
grooming her son for higher political aspirations and will definitely
clash with her son’s new Bae Cookie and the Lyon family.

Rashad joins other previously announced guest stars, including Mariah Carey, Sierra McClain, French Montana and Birdman, Variety noted.
“Empire” returns to Fox on Sept. 21.
